MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Ms.Courtney

Hi there!

I’ve been immersed in music my entire life and have over 11 years of teaching experience. I’m a multi-instrumentalist and private music instructor with a passion for helping students feel confident, capable, and excited about learning music. I offer personalized lessons for all ages and skill levels, with a focus on creating a supportive environment where students can truly grow.

I’ve had the opportunity to teach through well-known music schools such as School of Rock, and I’ve worked with a wide range of students—including beginners, more advanced players, and those with special learning needs. Every student learns differently, and I love finding the approach that helps music “click” in a way that feels natural and encouraging.

To me, music lessons should feel like a creative outlet—not something stressful or overwhelming. My goal is to meet each student exactly where they are and help them build skills at a pace that feels comfortable, rewarding, and fun. Whether it’s drums or other instruments, I focus on rhythm, technique, musicality, and music theory—but most importantly, confidence.

Outside of teaching, I’m always creating and playing music myself, and I bring that same energy and love for music into every lesson.

I can’t wait to meet you and help you (or your child) grow as a musician.

Music has been a huge part of my life in more ways than one—here are a few fun facts:

  • I’ve produced an entire album on my own, playing guitar, bass, and drums

  • I’ve played in several different kinds of bands over the years

  • The first instrument I ever learned was the saxophone

  • I was in jazz band as a kid

  • Some of my favorite bands include Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Journey, Mudhoney, Nirvana, The Beatles, and Deep Purple (among many others!)

  • I have a dog named Ozzy… yes, I’m a Black Sabbath fan
